Japan is working hard to improve accessibility, but challenges remain. Here is what you need to know about riding the Sky Hop Bus if you have mobility needs.

Wheelchair Accessibility

  • The Buses: Most modern Sky Hop buses are equipped with a ramp for wheelchair access to the lower deck.
  • Limitations: The top deck (open air) is usually accessible only via a spiral staircase. Therefore, wheelchair users may be restricted to the lower, enclosed deck.
  • Booking: It is highly recommended to contact the operator in advance or inform the staff at the ticket counter so they can ensure a compatible bus is scheduled.

For Seniors / Limited Mobility

  • Stairs: The stairs to the top deck can be steep. Hold the handrails firmly.
  • Seating: If the stairs are difficult, the lower deck offers large windows and air conditioning, which can be more comfortable in extreme heat or cold.
  • Priority Seating: There are priority seats designated for seniors and pregnant women.

Luggage

  • Large Bags: The bus is not designed for transporting luggage between hotels. There is no trunk space.
  • Hand Luggage: Small backpacks are fine.
  • Coin Lockers: We recommend leaving large suitcases in coin lockers at Tokyo Station (Marunouchi stop) before boarding.

Language Support

  • The audio guide system is intuitive.
  • Staff at the main Mitsubishi Building terminal usually speak English and can assist with directions or maps.

Wi-Fi

Most buses offer Free Wi-Fi. Look for the network name and password on the seat back. Useful for posting those photos instantly!
