Hop off near Otemachi to explore the Imperial Palace East Gardens. See the ruins of Edo Castle and beautiful Japanese landscaping.

In the center of the chaotic city lies a massive green void on the map: the Imperial Palace. While the Emperor's private grounds are generally closed, the East Gardens (Kokyo Higashi Gyoen) are open to the public and free to enter.
As the bus drives around the palace moat, you get spectacular views of the massive stone walls (some of the finest examples of Japanese masonry) and the famous Nijubashi Bridge from a distance.
The nearest stop is usually around the Marunouchi or Otemachi area. From there, enter through the massive Otemon Gate.
